Kintsugi urushi Concept
The components of the urushi lacquer repair, however, are not limited to the aesthetic and technical aspects described above: they also include artistic concepts, among which particular emphasis should be placed on four important ideas, which have survived without interruption to the present day and are known as Kintsugi, Tomotsugi, Yobitsugi, Mokuhen, Urushi-Tsugi.

The three main techniques used by the craftsman urushi 'Didier Faillères'.
The concept of restoration kintsugi, is to repair all types of damage, with the use of lacquer mixed with gold or silver powder, sometimes combined with lacquered parts without metal powder.
The concept of Tomatsugi is limited to restoration work in which existing breaks can be repaired by inserting original fragments.
The concept Yobitsugi 呼継ぎ inserts pieces of foreign ceramics.
This approach is often used to treat larger damaged areas or when an artist deliberately wants to implant alternative material rather than using existing, essentially usable original fragments
The concept Mokuhen insert wooden pieces
The concept Urushi -Tsugi
Apply the lacquer whether it is black or red, following the break lines. A concept that has become contemporary again is to introduce drawn lacquer parts. The concept was at the origin of a trend in the 17th century.
The concept Tametsugi means that the work has no gold or silver on the Kintsugi parts. Usually the color is brown and it looks more subtle and wabi-sabi.
The Tametsugi concept is about the work doesn't have gold or silver on the Kintsugi parts. Usually, the color is brown and it looks more subtle and wabi-sabi.
Depending on the nature of the existing damage, the six repair concepts share the characteristic that they can be combined with each other, thus further expanding the creative spectrum, such as the African mask.
One of the remarkable aspects of the five concepts is the flexibility of incorporating accidental and/or deliberate damage.
